Hypnotherapy

Hypnotism has been around for centuries and the subject of scientific research for around over 200 years, attracting a lot of attention.  The origin of the word hypnosis is believed to be late 19th century: from Greek hypnos (‘sleep’) + -osis (denoting a process or condition).  (www.oxforddictionaries.com)

Hypnotism has been used in theatres and in television programmes over the years to amuse, astonish and simply entertain. However, when used in a clinical capacity it helps clients manage the different challenges people face, of need for achievement and also need for support.

There is a growing awareness and understanding of hypnotherapy and its uses, the potential to help people change unhealthy or undesired lifestyles, including stopping smoking, weight reduction, improving confidence and conquering pre-presentation nerves.  It has also been used in medical operations; hypnosurgery and hypnoanesthesia, during which the patient remains awake throughout, feeling no pain, and would be an option for patients with a fear of needles (trypanophobia).

My focus is two-fold, to support coaching at a deeper level, and also as a standalone option for specific issues requiring unconscious support through our daily lives as we face personal challenges like losing weight before a holiday, stopping smoking to improve our health and extend our lives, reducing drinking (alcohol) to embrace a healthier lifestyle, or manage down anxiety and stress levels.

The mind presents an amazing ocean of opportunity of which we are still learning, and hypnosis in hypnotherapy can allow individuals to revisit and deal with challenging, possibly traumatic situations, and also prepare for a brighter, more positive future.

As the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council state, “Hypnotherapy can be extraordinarily effective but it is not magic”.

Try it-you may be surprised…
